Question: think they will get women only like that?
I'm just wondering I've seen so many people only buy an instrument, mainly the guitar only to show off and think they will attract women just by doing that, or act annoying and try to show off in front of people even if they can't play a real song. The people that I've seen do not even practice with it much, maybe they will learn a few songs but only the really basic Emo ones. Although there are a few people, who play excellent, and do not show off, but practice all day, not to just get "laid" with women just for playing guitar. I fit into this category.
What inspired me to ask this is that there are these Emo people that live in my neighborhood and they are all for looks saying that "all girls love us Emos because we are cute, and nice to them" so they think if they buy a guitar all the ladies, and women will fall for them, but they don't expect to play it a lot, or would even bother, they mostly play guitar hero.

I agree. There's this one kid at my school, who's really not too great, who brings his guitar to school everyday to show off in front of girls.
There's this other kid I know, who's crazy at the guitar, by crazy I mean that he's only been playing for five months and he can shred, but he's REALLY shy, and doesn't want anyone to know he plays guitar, because he doesn't want to seem like a showoff.
I think even wanting to learn a *real* instrument has (hopefully temporarily) taken a back seat to freakin Guitar Hero & Rock Band.
I play guitar has an outlet for my emotions. Trust me in the 5 years I have been playing I haven't had women crawl all over me because I play the guitar. I practice all the time because I want to. It wasn't for the women now, when I started and it won't be about women. More about talent.
a lot of suburbia kids are spoiled for whatever they want. sucks. continue on, or exploit them.
If you carry around a guitar but can't play to save your life, then you look like an idiot and not "hot."
Learn to play an instrument because you're passionate about it and not because you want to seem cool. I know exactly what you mean by this, and it's so crazy.

I play bass guitar, have for a year and a half, and I picked it up because I love music. I don't want to pick up chicks with it (I mean, its bass, how many chicks go for the bassist in a band?), I simply play because I love playing music. I am not great by any stretch of the imagination, so even if I tried to show off, I'd embarrass myself, but yeah, I agree.

It's kind of like that episode of South Park where Stan and Kyle became famous just for playing Guitar Hero and thought that playing real guitar was lame and for old people.
Even one of the radio stations that I listen to told us that Guitar Hero rocks and we "old people" should just shut up.
Playing guitar just for the sake of showing off and attracting women is moronic and a waste of time, you ask any of the world's most legendary guitar players and they won't mention anything about women or attention.
It's sad in a way,but I myself can't wait to get a guitar.
YES, you are absolutely right. I hate the fact that people do that. If someone really enjoys music, then they should play it from their heart. I play the guitar and I don't tell everyone about it or try to show off in any way. Plus, I'm a girl so my goal isn't to get "laid". That just disgusts me.
I agree, people with instruments are normally possers these days, needless to say many excpetions (like me = ) ) but what can you do lol ?
As for the emo kids in your neighbour, egg em on abit, so when their all souped (or greased in emo case) up posing with their les paul copy in front or the chicks... Swipe the instrument off em, an smash it over their greaseball head! Let the girls see how cool they are when they go running home crying to mommy!
