Is my (indie rock) band any good?!

Question: My band: http://www.myspace.com/undercoveralien recently submitted our demo to play at a local music festival and we got rejected. Now, I know we are not AMAZING, but I thought we were at least good enough to play a LOCAL festival... So are we at least half-way decent or do we suck?

Ok here's the thing... You guys are pretty good, I actually really liked 'No choice' so I can only assume you guys don't have the sound that festival was looking for . Sh*t happens dude, don't let it get you down or start doubting your bands ability.

You guys sound great but unless you really listen to the lyrics you can be easily dismissed as just another emo band, which your not. You have to remember that alot of times local festivals are organized by 'rock snobs' who will simply skip to the next band they aren't immediately blown away by your song before the first verse. Rock on , and keep going

oh yeah you guys suck

WOW, do you all have a CD out because I would totally buy it---I loved all your songs! Yeah, they totally missed out because I think ya'll are amazing! Way more than half-way decent, I loved the first song!!

Ok, I listened to the first couple of minutes of your song. I think you're decent. Problem with a music festival is that if you aren't obviously "different" or "new," then you'll need to market yourself. So, I really don't think this is an artistic issue, but more of a marketing issue.

Good luck though! I think you have potential.

I really enjoyed the music; however, the intros to some of the songs are kind of lengthy and get boring after a while. The second song has a beautiful intro. I believe you got rejected due to the fact that it seems to generic nowadays. I see great potential in your band and if you keep working and spending a good amount of time on each song, perfecting each one, keeping it exciting, then you will do great!

I like you guys! I agree with the 'different and new' thing. Maybe you can show people that you have something special to offer to the table! :] I'm just curious though. Are your songs based on past experiences? Good luck! :]

The intros are actually my favorite parts. The rest is a bit generic. What I mean is, I think you have a good amount of the instrumentals down, but the singing and lyrics are too generic. But you build from that and you keep going on. A good way to improve this is by listening to a wider variety of music, therefore having a vast amount of influences, resulting in better music.

I really like you work!
I think that its a marketing issue as well, different festivals (or people running them) require different styles of music. My guess is that the people running this gigjust dont have a sense of hearing.

btw- i like the friends list, its very interesting

Oh wow.
You guys are amazing!!!
Keep going on what you guys do!!!
Can't wait for a c.d.
I've been a big fan!!!

thats pretty good. I would just recommend something to set yourself apart, something unique about the music. But I did add you guys as a friend on myspace.
