Question: i have a 2007 epiphone les paul special II
should i save up and buy the guitar i want which is a les paul standard or should i spend the $80 i have right now and buy a set of Dimarzio Super Distortion Humbuckers?

I would have to say that you should get the one you want. As another option,go to several pawn shops and see what they have. The might have a beat-up axe with some nice hardware in it. It would be cheaper and, you can check out several different kinds. I own several different guitars and most, I have purchased from pawn shops. Saved me alot of green. Good luck.

BUT go to a guitar store and play a bunch of dif. guitars before you decide

you should save up your money and get the guitar, and as the guy said before me "try different guitars first." les pauls aren't the best guitars ever! but if you really want one, go for it
if u like les pauls that much u should upgrade and get the Gibson
