Learning Bass Guitar, Cant Hear it in songs to play it!?!
Question: Im about to start learning bass guitar I currently have a regular electric guitar and its easy to play by tabs because when you listen to the song you can hear the guitar part and you play what you hear in relation to the tabs. So Im about to invest in a bass guitar cause it tickles my fancy. And there are so many bass tabs for so many great songs! The only problem is I cant hear the bass line when I listen to the song :o so what do I do? Is there someway to make the bassline more audible? Is there some trick bass players do? Any help is appreciated!

listen to the songs on a real stereo with decent size speakers that have a woofer of at least 10" . Or better yet, use a subwoofer and an E.Q. and turn the low frequencies up (from 100 to 300 cycles) throw away your ipod!
train your ear... i know it sounds funny but listen to a song like 3 or 4 times and pick it apart, you will ba amazed at what you hear including screwups
yeah the lady is right. when i started bass i couldn't pick anything out. but after listening and playing for a short amount of time, you can separate the instruments and it's a lot easier than it seems right now.
get the bass! best thing i ever did with my life
The bass player and the drummer are the beat to the music.If those two don't hit together the sound fails.
