Can you "guess that sample"?!

Question: i don't know about anyother beatmakers on here, but i personally like to listen to the original sample of a song to try to get a better understanding of why the producer sampled it they way they did. Thats how I stumbled across this song by Gil Scott Heron- "We almost lost Detroit" http://www.zshare.net/audio/10343244066e... two hip hop songs that i know of have sampled this... one of them is fairly new, and they other is not so new. Whoever can name the Producers and the songs first gets the best answer... and try not to cheat lol. One of them is pretty obvious.

This is my kind of question, but I can't listen to audio at work...

Fortunately, I know that song and it was sampled in Black Star - Brown Skin Lady (J Rawls) and Grand Puba - Keep On (I think, might have the song wrong, and don't know the producer)

EDIT: Also Common (some song from Finding Forever produced by Kanye West. I don't know the album that well) I knew there was a more recent one. Couldn't think of it the first time around.

EDIT 2: The People...had to check my iPod. Not completely cheating.

You got me on this. I know the guitar riff has been sampled (recreated) on a Donell Jones song but that's r&b.

I hear what your saying though. I love to listen to the original being sampled.......I have a few cd's where the dj does this. Plays the original and then the hip hop song that sampled it. For example Think (About it) by Lyn Collins mixed into It Takes Two by Rob Base & EZ Rock.
