Okay, that's not necessarily a good question! lol kind of a "let's argue and get things stirred up" question. Both are wonderful in their own rights! "God only knows" vs "Yesterday" ... which is better, more dreamy, more moving? All opinions eh? :-)
Nope, The Beatles were mate. They made popular soft rock and were one of the first bands in this genre. Look at how it has spiralled into so many genres through the years with the same sorts of elements.

the beatles's creative level is such that they cannot be compared to any bands on earth. they revolutionized music and our world. they created rock. their song helter skelter was the first heavy metal song. they experimented with ska, reggae, pop, rock, avant garde music and many other others.

I will give you this...The Beach Boys Pet Sounds LP was a huge influence on the Beatles primarily for the multi-level harmonizing.

I can't think of any way in which that's true. The question isn't just about Pet Sounds, which is gorgeous music but I'm not sold on amazing production values when I listen to the original mono version. In terms of legacy, we're basically talking songs that all sounded the same about having fun at the beach, and then a few songs that tried to mimic what was being done by the Beatles, vs. the actual Beatles, with music evolving yearly, changing a generation, and influencing a couple more generations?
Depends what you like, I suppose. My sister has had Endless Summer for 30 years and no Beatles albums, but I think the overwhelming and predictable response above says it all.

Pressed for a decision, I'd have to say Beatles. While Pet Sounds is great, Smile never came out under the group's name, and many other BB albums were stuffed with filler. The Beatles, on the other hand, put out a long series of albums with great content, and Rubber Soul and Revolver are two of the best '60s rock LPs of anyone.
