It is supposed to highlight the persons sentence but to be honest it just makes it too hard to read and I now just cant be bothered even trying to read it.

It was Really common a couple of years ago w/ pre-teens/teens but I *think* has since died down a bit. They probably either out-grew doing it, or noticed the backlash against it. Just a 'Net trend, pretty much.
Made them look downright stupid & immature. Now when people do it, it's usually done in parody of those still doing it seriously.
It's something the teenies have done since chat and message boards hit the internet in the mid 90s.
its mostly young teenage girls who type like that.

You said about the MCR thing, thats probably cause they have gathered quite a lot of fans that TyPe LiiKeE tHiSs.
Thats why a lot of people on here hate MCR, but moreso for their fans, than the actual band. Which is a shame.
I really have no clue. They may think it looks cool but it confuses the heck out of me.
