In my opinion none of the other "hair" bands were ever HEAVY. They were more rock and glam rock. If you want METAL from the 80's, then bands such as Slayer are the ones you want. You understand what I mean??? I know the difference between "heavy metal" and "glam rock/hair bands". None of the other bands were actually "metal". True metal heads back in the day called Motley Crue, Ratt and others... "posers". Ya dig??? They were not TRUE heavy metal.

Ratt, Twisted Sister or Quiet Riot. I'd go with Quiet Riot with Metal Health but all three had hair rock anthem songs in the '80s.
Bon Jovi. Some of the tracks on "Slippery When Wet" are almost decent metal e.g. "Let it Rock" Track 1 side 1.

Guess is trade "Slave To The Grind" in for "Out Of The Cellar" by Ratt which is pretty damn \m/METAL\m/ as well.

RATT. Hindsight being 20/20, I never listened to them back in the day, but they were awesome, and they ARE hair metal.
I'd have to say Pantera but only the album Power Metal (1988) and their previous releases (without Phil).
They were more glam and just bordering on thrash when Phil joined. Their look was definitely hair metal back then. Just look at the album cover link below.

Well I love these bands even though they aren't hair metal, but Tesla, Cinderella, Great White, and Ratt. All 4 of these bands are just pure rock n roll that happened to be out around the glam hair metal daze...but the ultimate 80's hair metal band has to be Motley Crue.
