Vocal preference... Barrett, Waters, Gilmour?!

Question: I prefer Gilmour. I think he has a better range of singing. I could hear him singing pretty much anything from their collection.

oooooooooooooooooh, tough tough tough one.
personally, i LOVE everything syd barrett, all his songs and everything,
but in terms of vocals i'll have to say Gilmour, theres something very hauntingly beautiful about his voice. he adds a whole dimension to the song, like some sort of other-worldly feeling.

i love Waters too, but his songs are more sort of the warm fuzzy voice, sort of like a fatherly voice.

Ive always been partial to David too.

Especially, for example, in Waiting for the Worms. You can really compare his and Roger's voices in that song since they take turns in the 2 verses, and Gilmour just sounds better.

David Gilmour

I have to agree. Theres just something about Davids voice that makes you wanna melt.

i prefer roger waters...its all the ooooooing that does it for me

Waters has a certain charm to his voice,Dave's is just so melodic and beautiful though. He has a way of making his voice meld with the music. It's amazing how he can sing so powerfully with such a soft pretty voice.
So my vote is for Syd! :P
Obvisouly I'm going with Davie boy, like the rest of ya! Baa. :P

GILMOUR, hands down!

I do NOT like Barrett (too odd), neither do I like their early Barrett-written music that much.

Waters has a darker feel that works really well on some stuff.

And you forgot Wright, as he sang here and there as well, and continues to help out on vocals with David...

David Gilmour - THE Voice and Guitar of Pink Floyd... If you don't have it already, get the latest David Gilmour DVD, "Remember That Night"

Especially if you'd like to hear DAVID BOWIE sing "Comfortably Numb" (and "Arnold Layne")

Roger Waters is/was the main man, but even as a Floyd Fan, I think I've been fooled many times by David singing when I thought it was Roger. So I guess Gilmour gets my vote.

Barrett..

I've always preferred David Gilmour as well. My favorite song with him as vocalist is 'Corporal Clegg'. He was also fantastic on 'Cymbaline'.
Actually Roy Harpers lead vocals on 'Have a Cigar' were great too!

i think waters is the best, just edging out gilmour...in fact i think that their vocal styles are pretty similar, but i just think roger's voice fits better for what floyd wanted to do, of course gilmour's did also, but it may not have shown through because he did not do as much singing...i'm sorry but i have never been able to get into syd, he was a little too "out there" for me

I think that by reading the comments, it can be summed up with "Pink Floyd Vocals". The is only one "Pink Floyd". As evidenced since their break-up, if you remove one component, there is no Pink.
