I love Dave Brubek, Gerry Mulligan, Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker, etc, along with plenty 70's jazz fusion bands like Weather Report, Return to Forever, Jean Luc Ponty, Al Dimeola, Billy Cobham, Deodato, etc.

One of my alltime favorite jazz albums was relesed in 1959 by The Dave Brubeck Quartet, called 'Time Out'. 'Blue Rondo a la Turk' is a fantastic cut from this LP. Dave was also classically trained, and his blending the classics with jazz back in the 1950's-60's was really quite unique. He really influenced the playing style of the great Keith Emerson of ELP fame. Keith in turn was in innovator when it came to fusing the classics/jazz with rock music in the late 60's with his band the Nice, and later with the great progressive rock band Emerson Lake and Palmer during the 1970's.
I love jazz, as it helped give birth to one of my favorite rock subgenres!

Rock music was derived from Jazz/blues. So Yes, I love it, and anyone CAN love it. Report It

I like some of the older Harlem Renaissance stuff, but the more contemporary stuff makes me angrier than any punk or metal every could, albiet for different reasons.

I was in the Jazz band in my college so, I can appreciate Jazz. I like Prog-Rock like Yes, Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I also like fusion. Allan Holdsworth, and John Luc Pointy. Biily Cobham

    Jazz Music is alright.

I like big-band. To me, Benny Goodman is like Iron Maiden on clarinet.
Regular jazz, five or so guys in a dark room, much more fun and IMO much more inspiring to watch than it ever could be to listen to. Some jazz is so elevator-mellow, that I could pass out listening to it. But seeing it is completely different. I believe jazz was meant to be live, like all good music, and it is better when it is.

Oh sure! I love rock . As a longtime guitarist, i love a lot of rock and metal type stuff (no new crap though), but i love some jazz / fusion type stuff too. I loved Wayne's work with Weather Report. A DJ (radio..not rap) friend gave me a copy of Weather Report's "Live 8:30" record years ago. That's some awesome stuff , very powerfull.

    eww no
