"Stop Snitching" ?!

Question: What is the difference between someone snitching and being a witness?

Answers: What is the difference between someone snitching and being a witness?

A snitch is someone that was most likely doing the same thing as the person they’re ratting out, engaging in the same illegal activities but didn't get caught...

A witness is an independent someone who observes a Drug transaction, act of violence etc. They're on the right side of the law and just noticed an illegal activity by happenstance...

nothing snitching is the reason the world isnt in total chaos

hold on, lets listen to the genius word of rapper "cam'ron"... http://youtube.com/watch?v=wTwipn-Fp_U

lmfao @ cam'ron's stupidity. "if there was a serial killer living next door, i wouldnt tell the police. i would just move."

a witness saw the crime happen, a snitch tells the cop/law enforcement everything they saw.

you can be a witness and not be a snitch (as long as u keep your mouth closed).

A snitch is someone ratting someone out for there own selfish purpose. A witness is someone trying to help the victim.

the difference is nothing..
Sometimes people say stop snitching to people that are involved in it and you just snitch to get out.. Or maybe it would be okay if it was a little old lady that snitched because she saw a robbery.. "Stop Snitching on friends" thats what i dont like..

To me, if someone "snitches" it is for their own personal gain. If someone is simply a witness, then they observed something, and were asked about it for reasons not for their own benefit.

You mean witness as in you are called to testify in court?

Witnessing something isn't the same as being a witness in a court of law, but they are related.

If you witness a crime, you can be a witness in court. But you don't have to have seen the actual crime to be a witness in court. Sometimes you may just have information related to the case.

If you have been called as a witness in a case, but feel that anything you say would be snitching, you can refuse to answer, but the court may file charges against you for withholding the information, including going to jail or a fine.
You can't be forced to give testimony that would incriminate yourself.

The whole 'don't snitch' thing is just a means of control by other people who don't want their freinds or themselves to get snitched on for something they did.

If you live in an area where this is a real issue, it's time to move somewhere else instead of living in fear. Otherwise, you might as well be black living in the deep south in the 1930's. The only thing that's changed is the sheets, and maybe the color of the people keeping you in fear.

The whole "Stop Snitching" thing is completely ridiculous. Not to mention, FOOLISH. First of all, if there were no crimes being committed, there would be nothing to "snitch" about.
If a crime was committed against one of your loved ones, what's the first thing you want to know? Who did it and why. Does the "Stop Snitching" ridiculousness apply then?! If a crime was committed against one of my loved ones, I would hope that someone would have the decency to tell the police what they saw, and any other information they had especially if they know who committed the crime. It's called being a decent human being and having respect for others! Showing that you have some morals and that you were raised right.
It's unbelievable how people adapted to this "Dont Snitch" mess so easily, but when the shoe is on the other foot and your loved one is the one that was assaulted, raped, killed, etc., will you still be saying, "Dont Snitch"?

Those people who willing "Dont Snitch" at the expense of another person's safety are going to have a heck of a lot of explaining to do on Judgement Day-

it is kinda the same thing....if i am at a murder and they call me as a witness to say what happened...and i say who killed them i am snitching as a witness

a snitch is someone who gets caught for a crime then tells.

like if someone is selling drugs the police catch them and the person who got caught tells on someone else to get out of trouble etc.

a witness mite see something happen and think thats rong maybe they witnessed a murder or something so they have to tell the police so the person doesnt do it again.

a snitch tells to get there self out of trouble/ or a easier sentance in jail

a witness tells what they saw to protect other people

Telling on something petty because you're miserable and have nothing better to do makes you a snitch. Telling for selfish reasons also makes you a snitch. However, if you witness something heiness, for example, an innocent person getting gunned down, a rape, or child molestation, than you're doing the right thing. IMO to keep your mouth shut in circumstances like that makes you part of the problem.
