Don't believe MJQ used marimbas..........maybe that was vibes? ( Vibraphone) =) as in Lionel Hampton and Gary Burton. Vibes are still being used, but don't seem to be real popular now.

Never heard of marimba jazz but the Modern Jazz Quartet is one of my all time favorites since 1962 when I was twelve years old.
