I think you're trapped in an episode of Southpark.
When my kids and their friends haul out guitar hero, I'll sometimes grab my acoustic bass and play along to all the songs. I know most of the "classics" but some I've never heard before but the progressions are familiar, so no problem. I try to point out to them that in the time they spend learning guitar hero, (hours on end) they could be well on their way to learning real guitar.
