My personal favorite is ska.

I like the genre-defying "genre" ...lol...bands like Nevermore, Torche, Into Eternity, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Radiohead, Stephen Brodsky's Octave Museum, Arcturus, (newer) Ulver...or progressive post-sludge/doom metal like Mouth Of The Architect, Pelican, Isis, Neurosis, Minsk, Baroness...wtf idk screw genre labels

80's

Progressive Rock

Right now I really am into Melodic death metal, so there you go..

Rock

folk!!!lol

progressive trance

it builds onto you .. its like a drug ....wooooo

80's rock, cause Guns N Roses and Van Halen are awesome

Country-my way of life.
and rap is just not real

Rock, in general.

The musicianship is strongest, the sound is the most varied, the lyrics are the most heartfelt. Sure, there is some crap within it, but it's what I was raised on and it moves me more than most music.

alternative.
because it has all different sounds.
XD

Rock (classic rock, pop rock, and a little of soft metal rock) . It just makes my spirit rise (it feels like a high to me), and makes my heart beat harder and faster : )

Eek!
That's super hard, probably indie.
Because it mellows me out and it's so good.

Ska is good too though!

hip hop. Because the first music I ever listened to was 2pac. After that I figured I needn't look no further.

industrial

Alternative-Becuase they are all so different and i hate mainsream music, its so typical. I like something unique and creative not justin timberlake talking about how horny he is..lol..Yup alternative is really diverse from the strokes, to the hives. Their cool.
Whats your fav.?
Whats Ska?

adult alternative. it's not too slow or too fast. helps me stay on level.

80's thrash metal and technical death metal

Fan of both the skill level to create great music and the agressiveness in both

industrial-electronia mix. it's quite a mix,you go from nice rock tones to eletronica,or my favorite all at once. nice eletronica beat of drums and bass with rock guitars and singing. good example is 16volt

Gotta love the Metal.
And I dont mean stuff like Behemoth and Slayer,

Im talking about the Nu-Metal.
Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot, etc. I love it! It gets me pumped. It can be heavy or soft, and I can understand the words lol (unlike Behemoth as mentioned above).

Favorite band in the genre is Disturbed. Im going to see them (and other bands) in Atlant this summer. Its going to be awesome!!!!

most rock and pop from about 1963 to about 1970.

......hard to explain why I like it so much. You have to listen to that era. You will either get it or you wont

The basic rock and roll of the late fifties was giving way to a more creative experimental sound (and a more interesting sound)

I do also like ska/twotone (selecta, specials, madness, bad manners)

other favourites; U2, coldplay, keane, sex pistols, johnny cash, beatles, animals, small faces

pop, 70's, R&B,

mmm....well...I suppose it'd be indie rock right now, hehe.
I just really like it because some of the melodies are really upbeat and like gets you in a good mood. And can have some really awesome lyrics.
I also really like j-rock because it's just really like....it can just really get my psyched and ready to do whatever! lol.
XD
What about you?

Thrash till death!

Trip hop is good.
Classic Rock.
And Neo-Psychedelia.

right now im liking metalcore and melodic death metal

Ambience
relaxing, different

Alternative rock, in the true sense of the words. It's freeing for some.

My Answer is short and clear: Pop music of the fifties and sixties. You can call it "Oldies", but that's not specific enough.
Now for the sub-genre part: Any song (or instrumental tune) that was listed in the main charts, i.e. Billboard, Cashbox and UK, is good enough for me, no matters if it's a Bubblegum (pre rock'n'roll) song, a Rockabilly, a Brill Building style, a Doo-Wop song or even a Country (Patsy cline) or a Folk (Peter, Paul and Mary) song.
This Genre classification is very subjective. AllMusic, for example, claims that Rock'n'Roll is a sub-genre of Rock. Would you believe?

Post Punk and Synth/Darkwave

At the moment I'm really getting into Crust Punk or Melodic Deathmetal
