I really love and enjoy some forms of music and I listen to it for hours on end !
Question: different story. I am unable to listen to it for more than a few minutes. When I hear it, I become totally irritated and annoyed at the banging and ridiculously loud booming sounds. I am not here to bash, seriously this is not meant to offend. I know many must enjoy it, but for the life of me, I cannot stand it. When I hear it, I wonder how it can be classified as music? Isn't music suppose to have a melody and a tune?

Yeah I know what you mean. I like the Rap that isn't like that. Like Big Pun is pretty good. But all the rest is really annoying. I don't understand how its classified as muci when it doesn't take much talent other than speaking and rhyming. I like more talented music. Some rappers are talented though, and those ones tend to make better music.
Different genre, different sound. Any type of music takes talent. Music takes work no matter what kind it is. You think they just pull lyrics off a restaurant menu?
Every type of music has its own rules.
There are many types of music besides rap, such as industrial and punk, that usually downplay melody and focus on other musical elements such as rhythm or intensity.
While you are certainly free to say you don't LIKE rap music, it nonetheless is most certainly a form of music.
