Underground.
Mainstream hip hop is not music...hardly anyway. T Pain has created a long streak of CRAP on the radio - artists who have no talent are played most, and artists that do have talent bend to their standards (Example: Sensual Seduction - Snoop Dogg)
It's sad. Underground is the only music left that has quality and is worth listening to..
underground, duh. it's better because it's real hip hop.

Well underground is better but commerical can be just as good. Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Eminem, Chamillionare, have given real, hard stuff out commerically.

Though I'm not a stan like the rest of the answerers, with the exception of the first answerer, I would have to say that at the moment the underground is putting out better music.
i like underground more, most commercial hiphop is all the same but there is some good stuff thats by a commercial artist, but it wont get radio play.

I get tired of people who are into underground rap putting down commercial rap. I've heard plenty of underground rap that was pure garbage, just like some of the commercial stuff. I don't think either one is better than the other, and the best underground artists aren't that "underground" for long. And what does "underground" really mean? Unsigned to a major label?
