Remember when dressing punk/rock style was uncool??!

Question: When I was in high school me and my friends always got weird looks for having different color hair, dressing in band tees, mohawks, chains, converse etc.

Now it is the newest and latest thing. I am only 21...has so much changed since I was 17?

I'm the same age... and it kinda puts me in a rage considering the hell I went through in high school.

Even more so, remember when Emo meant wearing argyle and having horned rimmed glasses? Now indie is what emo used to be and emo isn't even emo it's scene. Remember when scene was screamo or even when it was mall-core? Now punk kids dress like hair metal freaks and goth has turned into grunge.

It makes my brain hurt.

Yes. Right now its so cool to dress 'differently'. Everyone thinks their so cool and alternative because they shop at hot topic and wear band tees for bands they never listen too.

i know what u mean, i hate that ****, like 3 years ago i got laughed at for wearing band tees, tripp pants, studs, spikes, etc.

people wear acdc shirts and dont know who the hell they are(it pisses me off)

It was pretty freaky back then, but now it's stupid fad, these kids walking around with these "vintage rock T-shirts" that they bought from Walmart. Ever since they built that Hot Topic in my local mall, all I see are pretentious goth/punk/emo/scene kid wannabes squirming around in there listening to their Slipknot and ICP.

brian v hit the nail on the head with that answer.

No. Im only 16. It started around this time.
Thats whats IN right now.
They still think that its wierd though.
I get strange looks all the time...

Dude I am `16 and I have been dressing that way since I was 11. My mother hated it, but i didn't care. This guy called me poor one time, because i didn't wear Jordan's. Three years later that *** is wearing vans! VANS! I bet that ick never even stepped on a skate board. Every one in my school started to shop at hottopic, vans, and DC. All these posers crampen my style lol. Well it's funny to see all the poser's.

I'll be graduating high school next month and I've noticed that too. It does piss me off some because I started wearing band shirts, black pants and different hair colors when I got out of 5th or 6th grade. Nearly all of the ones who gave me weird looks or said something that they thought was insulting have gone the same route in some way. These days, I've noticed with girls mostly (guys too though) that if they wear one of those vintage rock tees that they suddenly think they know everything about the genre. I just laugh at those types because I know when the next trend comes out they'll flock to it like brainwashed sheep. All of this seems to be courtesy of Hot Topic. I remember when that place was actually half decent, now its filled to the brim with 12-15 year old kids usually with their parents. I'm sure you all have seen how funny and/or ignoring that can be.

Hey, I still remember when you could only buy Docs mail order from England.
Now they're made in China!?!?!
I remember when you couldnt buy the style, you made it. When it was a lifestyle, not a scene (and yea, at *almost 40* I still live the life)

No....I'm 14 so idt that has happened in my life time.....but if it has, irdc bc idc wtf ppl think of me
