She's talking about a relationship where she doesn't want material, maybe not even materials, but they just keep finding ways to show their love through "things" when she just wants a relationship that's just simple love, clean love, love without "things", just pure.
She doesn't want a relationship where one has to give and then the other gives back. She doesn't want to have to prove she loves someone and she's saying she doesn't want another person proving he/she loves her through material or nonmaterial "things".
She wants to be in the moment with her relationship. She doesn't want all this planning for relationships; she wants to live her relationship like it's their last day together.
In the song I think that what she's talking is a relationship she had with a guy. In the song she talks about her insecurities with them becoming closer as well as those that she deals with on her own accord.
