LOU REED or ELVIS COSTELLO?!

Question: Who do you prefer and why? Favorite songs?

Answers: Who do you prefer and why? Favorite songs?

I've prefer Elvis Costello & the Attractions myself; I've never been keen on Lou Reed. I just never could get into Reed's style.

Favorites - I Can't Stand Up For Falling, Every Day I Write the Book, Good Year For The Roses, Tokyo Storm Warning, Shabby Doll, Chemistry Class.

Elvis Costello..

Everyday I write the Book

ELVIS COSTELLO

Elvis Costello my favorite song is Alison because when that song came out it was when my mother was pregnant with me and thats how she chose my name and i grew up listening to all of his music

I don't know what it is, but I've never been able to get into Elvis Costello. It might be his voice...I dunno. Lou Reed all the way, though, with the Velvets (fave songs: Sunday Morning, Femme Fatale, Black Angel's Death Song, There She Goes Again, Candy Says, Here She Comes Now, Sweet Jane, Who Loves the Sun, What Goes On) and solo (I really only know the Transformer album, but Andy's Chest, Perfect Day, Satellite of Love, Walk on the Wild Side).

Hands down, Elvis Costello.
Watching the Detective
i just prefer his music.
: )

i very much prefer Elvis Costello but i also just know more about him and more of his songs; i have never listened to Lou Reed except if someone else was playing it. i love some of Costello's songs far too much to pick Lou Reed (i don't like all of them but some like "Satellite", "Every Day I Write The Book" and "Allison" are fantastic enough to gain my loyalty).

Elvis Costello. I'm not especially familiar with Lou Reed, and really really love Elvis Costello. His voice is just really really cool.

There is no comparison WHATSOEVER, in my opinion, Elvis Costello is an overrated hack, one of the most overrated artists in music history. I've listened to most of his catalogue, the only good song was "She", a song which appears on the movie Notting Hill. Other than that, all of his songs suck.

On the other hand, Lou Reed is one of the greatest and most influential artists in music history, he was the singer and the main songwriter of the The Velvet Underground, need i say more? his solo career was terrific too, i love it even more than i love Velvet.

Top 3 favorite songs (Velvet):

Heroin
I'm Waiting For The Man
Sweet Jane

Top 3 favorite songs (solo):

Walk On The Wild Side
Perfect Day

Lou Reed. Why? Because the Velvet Underground is awesome. Favorite Song? Sweet Jane. Makes me smile! :)

Well that is a tough choice. but I pick Elvis Costello. Girls Talk, Radio, Radio, Watching the Detectives and Watch Your Step.

I do like Sweet Jane and Waitin' on the Man by Reed.

I'm not saying anything bad about Elvis Costello, but Lou Reed, although maybe not as main stream popular wins hands down. He's probably not living in luxury, and I know he's had many personal hardships. I know he's fought his demons for many years now, but he just seems more down to Earth.
You can almost feel his pain, through his music!
