"Gangster" Rappers lie, Do "Conscious" Rappers??!

Question: Do you think Conscious rappers write a song about a regular topic but then tell us that they are writing it from a different point a view to make them seem deeper??

Example: Common's "I used to love H.E.R". Do you think he wrote that just about a regular ole girl, then just said he was writing it like hiphop was a girl to make himself sound more deep??

i wouldnt say yes or no cause that kind of rap is based more on reality of the world not that gangser rap isnt either but i mean things that are going on here and now and things that these guys really have seen or see and if it is someone elses story these guys arent afraid to admit it

I guess that if he is conscious he planned it the whole time

If you listen to the song and know your hip hop history it is easy to see that the song is about hip hop. I do suppose that every rapper lies in order to sell records, every artist for that matter.

a lot of so called conscious rappers do contradictory things in their lives off the mic but i dont think they would go so far to lie or try to make themselves seem deeper. why would they?
