12/8 Time...?!

Question: How do I practice it so it's in time? The MM is 120 and it's really fast with jumping notes. I'm play flute and this is for an audition. Thnx. :D

start at half the tempo or in a tempo that makes you feel comfortable and once you get it in to that tempo increase it, do small phrases, do not try the whole thing all at once, isolate the more complicated passages, and practice them slow too, then put it all together, is like getting a puzzle part by part.
Good luck in your audition!

Take it slowly. Pick a tempo that you can play at and practice until you can play it confidently. Then pick up the tempo and practice again. Keep increasing the tempo and you will soon be playing at full speed.

ONE two three FOUR five six SEVEN eight nine TEN eleven twelve
Thats how you count it, start slow. you can also count it in 4
at about 50 MM (thinking in 4/4 here)
depends on the piece.
hope your auditon goes well

I'd put the MM at a slow speed on a quarter note. Put the MM at eighth note beeps so it's sounds like this: TICK tick TICK tick etc. Whenever you have jumping notes, be sure to take them slow first and slowly build up speed!

Without seeing the music my best guess would be that the eighth notes are grouped in sets of three. If this is the case then at that tempo the best way to count and practice the music is in 4 beats to the measure. Start slowly at first.

A measure of eighth notes would be counted 1-la-le , 2-la-le , 3-la-le , 4-la-le / etc. The first note of each group would be a number, the next "la" , and the third "le" .

A quarter note + eighth note pattern would be 1-xx-le , 2-xx-le , etc. with the first two eighth notes of each group being counted as a long "1" followed by the "le". You must feel it and count it in rhythm.

If your music is grouped differently then update your question and I will try to help.
