i own a american strat...and im in a death metal band. it i an extremely comfortable and versatile guitar...i also play the blues.

Stratocasters are probably the most versatile guitar out there. You can play pretty much any style you want with it. That's why they're so popular.

u would have trouble with skynard and matallica because they tend to use longer fret boards

From the many reviews iv'e read on( guitarcenter.com, musiciansfriend.com, ultimate-guitar.com)

-hard rock (guns n' roses) YES
-Funk rock (RHCP) YES
-Heavy metal (metallica ETC ETC) Maybe, with enough effects
-southern rock (Lynyrd skynyrd) YES
-classic rock (Aerosmith) YES

This is a great guitar. thats why it is so renounced over and over again, and used by some of the worlds greatest musicians. It is one of those guitars that can adapt easily, and it just a great selection.

They're also much more comfortable. Lighter than a Les Paul and have contoured backs. It's a lot harder to hurt yourself with the Strat and you need less endurance. These are not minor factors.

A strat is the way to go. You can see them being played in basically every genre of music. Gibson Les Pauls are compatible with everything too.

if you can afford a Gibson or the right Epiphone, i would suggest them. If you can afford those I would also suggest having a look at Taylor or Ibanez....

Taylor has superior technology to a great number of guitars out there and they look and sound just spectacular.

if you spend Gibson/Fender money on Taylor/Ibanez or a great number of other manufacturers you can save the money your paying for the name and in many cases get a better guitar.

theres only one major guitar company producing guitars in the USA, and thats the Gibson plant in Memphis,TN.
