Are there any bands that.... (this'll take a while to explain....)?!

Question: that lots of R&Pers are familiar with, so they seem really big, and then you go out into the real world and talk about them to someone, and they've never heard of them? and then you are shocked and think they must have been living a cave.

sorry, i already know this is going to be very confusing.....

my answer:
drop dead gorgeous comes to mind first, everyone here seems to know them, and then i was talking about them to my friend, who has similar taste to mine, and she had no clue what i was talking about.

the devil wears prada
we can probably blame jake for this one :)
i asked the lady at the store if they had any of their CD's, and she walked produced the movie soundtrack, i was a bit surprised.

i probably sounded like i was babbling like an idiot just now, i hope this makes sense, or someone can make out what i'm trying to ask

Yes.All the time.Every store I go in.I always have to find the cds myself. This is why I buy cds online now or at local record stores.
Enter Shikari.
I was talking to my friend about how they are coming to the states soon. She had no clue who they were.I'm like really they are really popular
HORSE The Band:
When to fye to get a cd.I asked the guy if they had a natural death by horse the band..the looked at me like I was crazy
The Devil Wears Prada
Yes we can blame Jake for this=)
I went to go get Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord for my friend.I asked a lady if they had any tdwp cd.She comes back with the soundtrack and the dvd.

dude that happens to me all the time... it probably just means that you listen to better music than everyone else...

btw drop dead, gorgeous and the devil wears prada are amazing bands :]]

Until Noggin started, I swore I was the one who ever heard of 'They Might Be Giants'. Yeah, they had other kid show themesongs at that time too, but I was into their 'real' songs then. I was shocked later when i was sittign with my 6 year old niece and who should appear on her favorite kids channel?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Now, everyone has heard of them (atleast in my family), but nobody remembers them from BEFORE Noggin.

Yeah, I know, i didnt answer your question and I babbled, but it related.

Have a happy day.

i was in a store and had to go to the bathroom real bad, but the bathroom was out of paper, so i asked if they had any MCR cd's and they pointed me towards the little kids section. thankully i found one and it saved my day.

sorry, thats all i could think of...back in the 90's i had a problem finding danger danger cd's. if ya remember them. also sleeze beez...those 2 at one time were hard to find groups....

Everyone talks about the band Tool on this..

I had never heard of the band before.. and noone in London seems to have heard of them..
According to trustable R&Pers they are the best band around..Hmmm

On the other hand - most my friends like a band called Enter Shikari.. hardly anyone recognises them :P

I have a really tight nit group of friends who, for the most part, are at the same level of knowledge on the subject as the R&P folk (actually, a couple in particular really put me to shame), and I'm not one to really socialize with a lot of people I don't know so this may not apply to me so much, but I've found that Okkervil River is one band that I've found a few people in here that know of them, but a lot more rare on the outside. Pre car ad Band of Horses is another example of this.

Actually for me it's almost to the contrary, but my tastes aren't exactly en vogue these days. Bands like the Silver Jews and Beachwood Sparks are pretty well known in my outside life, but get virtually no play in here. Someday people will know the name Apollo Sunshine, they're amazing and apparently no one knows them anywhere.

Hmm, I'd say Scary Kids Scaring Kids. On here, this band is too mainstream, yet in my area this band doesn't exist. Crazy sh*t.

hahah this is so true. =P I loved your devil wears prada story =P

I love when ppl dont know the bands its so funny to just be like omg its a band! lol.

Oh BTW we had a party the other night and my buddy turned the tv on and The movie "the devil wears prada" was on and I got all excited I thought he was talking about the band. lol. It was sad when i found out it was the movie =\

I get that reaction when I'm looking for bands like Pedro the Lion, Showbread, Murder by Death, Kill Hannah, Adam Ant, and Mazzy Star.
About three years ago i wanted a hellogoodbye cd, (they had just released their first EP) and I went to FYE and asked if they had it, and they just looked at me, typed it into the computer, and told me it wasn't a real band. That made my day.

so, 3 days ago i had no idea who waking the cadaver was

and everyone was talking about them. checked em out, and love em =)

i love drop dead gorgeous, and TDWP =)
