Should I pay my music composer anything when the cd's get sold even though I!

Question: What Im saying is that I write the lyrics. I pay my composer for making the music. And lets say now that the cd makes a hit and the cd's are sold. should I pay the composer even though I already paid for his services?

Yes. The composer is entitled to royalties which may arise from his/her work. You should talk with an attorney and get some legal papers in place that details all this so there's no problem in the future.

i'm not sure, but what every happens get in writing. all of it.
money turns people crazy

It's in the contract you both sign, though my guess is you've never signed one.

If there's no contract involved and he doesn't know where you live, take the money and RUN

yes! you should really get a lawyer and draw up a contract. he could sue you if you don't have a plan laid out that you agree upon
