Do you think British rappers have a chance succeeding in the States?!

Question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuk53sOh3...

Answers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuk53sOh3...

i dont know but that dont matter even if the states dont like dizzee i still do theres alot of good artists in the uk and dizzee isnt the best one to be honest.

if the sound is good and the lyrics i dont care where a rapper is from.

i think you asked this question honestly but some people think they will just bash uk rappers.

i think if they love hip/hop they should appreciate different forms of it.

Ha!

Slim to none!

Grime artists like Dizzee Rascal will not be appreciated in the States. They just won't like the music, and to be honest, neither do I. But I'm sure some Americans would like this song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CGdaCB4c... - Kano - This Is The Girl. But Kano isn't about to go to the States and start rapping there, London is where he belongs.

Why not?

Look at at the WACK rappers that are succeeding in the U.S today? Come on Americans aren't that selective.

Yeah, why not? Just recently, Jay-Z signed a female white rapper from the UK to Def Jam. So anything's possible.

no it would be to easy to smash on them...

OH NO "THE BRITISH ARE COMING THE BRITISH ARE COMING"

sound familiar

nope.

No I don't believe they can. They could maybe at the best of times move a few 1000s CDs, but thats about it. A lot of rappers are struggling to go Platinum yet Gold, so I really don't believe that British artists could do that well.

Yes. In Fact. I want every one here to listen to this brit artist. Jehst.

heres the link to that video, and i will post the lyrics.

Jehst - 1979 (this song is a bit old, but the lyrics are just plain amazing)

Jehst - 1979- From The Album "Return Of The Drifter"

"I bleed liquid gold and slur speech in a cryptic code
my feet slipping on this twisted road
only the mystic knows the lone figure in the distance
no bigger than the sum of his inscriptions
or the extent of his conviction
*I sip vitamin enriched liquid diction* -( SICK !!)
and digest fiction for culture, i force fed code the monster
my head and net connected by a pole
Try to hold things together like the skins i fold
take my food for thought with a pinch of salt
true to form, my sin results in self doubt
look into my eyes i don't need to spell it out
you can see it, how i tripped and fell down
and picked myself up, turned myself round from the cliffs edge
and staggered home like a misled piss head
i put up a fight, till my fist bled
I choke on lead, until my spits red
when i step outside to get a quick breath of fresh debt
no theres no air left, and 50% of us couldn't care less, i bare flesh
exposed to the cancerous light like tearing the film, out ya cameras
*im still ravenous, i feel my stomach acid
keep burning as i work towards another classic* - (i love this line.. damn..)
melt ya plastic chat snatch ya comfort blanet
in this cold world your naked and un-attractive
and ya tactics are underhanded
i hibernate through the winter
and wait for the summer madness

Call me the dirty stop out, fetus on the couch
stout on my breath and a bad case of desert mouth
forever drown in my pain in the pleasant sound of whispered words and rainfall on level ground
gaged and bound with no hope of gettin out
save the secrets and lies, I'm trying to settle down
but like the weather now, im unpredictable
my hates bitter but my loves unconditional
living in this digital age, these are strange days
my rage tamed, and freed on the same page
i make waves, till i wash away the refuge
god of the sea, these are the eight moons of Neptune
i make moves to refuge, but don't sleep
i walk the street, with a rose in my teeth
and a bitter sweet song in my heart
i take every step, the hard headed don't ever rest
so till the very end, i wont ever rest
i serenade my angel with every breath god sends
in remembrance of lost friends
whenever my cold tent drops, i know what went on then
provokes me to focus ahead
close my eyes and get close to the dead
I'm the ghost that begs to be released from limbo
between two worlds like the thief at the window"

brits can also dominate hip-hop. no doubt.
