Hip Hop is dead????!
Question: For the first time in my life, I watched a rap video without hearing the lyrics or beat. All I saw was this "no name" rapper throwing money all over the screen with his boys and showing off priceless jewels and cars and showboating women like they were useless. I love hip-hop and I am concerned that it is going down the wrong path. It seems funny to me that the vast majority of people who buy the music are affected by the economic crisis but these artist don't seem to care and continue to throw money around like they don't care. I can remember the old Snoop videos where he would be in the projects trying to survive and now these ungrateful bastards want to call what they do hip-hop. Is the music industry going down the toilet or can it be resurrected?

I don't even mean to hate on hip-hop. That said it isn't my favorite music I really dig rock or funk. All music is related in ways though. Every other year people think rock is dead. I agree that there's alot of crap in hip-hop. That's how it goes though. My advice is focus on the real artists. Hip-hop still has great music and it's at the top of the charts. No genre is selling nearly as many albums. ironically the cheesy fake jewel wearin, no-namers, with women in skimpy clothes are what girls are listening to, they are the biggest part of the problem. They just want crap to shake their booties to.

Listen to Joell Ortiz, Lupe Fiasco, Sheek Louch, Jacken, Nyce, Brother Ali, and there are many others that are keepin hip-hop alive.
hip hop is in the hair band phase right now. every video is all money, women and stupid @ss clothes. it'll subside.

I think Hip-Hop is dieng, its enough... of bubble gum, apple bottom jeans etc.etc...I've listened Hip-Hop for a long time, but just cant anymore..i listen to a very few rappers (50 cent,Akon, Paul Wall few others)
I tried listening to rock, i am fitting slowly into it even though i never liked rock.

i can understand what you r saying. i think all types of music get carried away when they run out of ideas. even though i am a huge fan of the "HAIR BANDS" they had groups coming out of the wood work doing the same thing over and over again. it only takes so long before something new gets old and burned out.
Somewhere along the line it stopped being real. The reason it was so good back then is they were talking about what life was really like to them. Snoop did grow up in the projects trying to survive. Its all a show now. It stopped being an artform and started being entertainment. Everybody's got to outdo everybody else, and thats what killed it. It can only be resurrected through the few artists who actually say something through their music, or at the very least those who don't give us any more then who they actually are.
