Why is he Ego Trippin'? (see details)?!

Question: Snoop Dogg told XXL magazine he didn't right any songs on his new album "Ego Trippin". He later said in the same interview "Snoop Dogg is the biggest rapper in the world right now." Does a rapper having ghost writers discredit them as artists in your opinion? Keep in mind that many (some may even say most) artist do this to some extent. Here is a list of artist and mentors that doctored their flows:

Eminem-Dr. Dre
Game- 50 cent
Lil wayne-Gillie Da Kid

Alot of rappers call themselves having ghost writers

My thing is this, if you can have someone right your own album, and someone else do the production, What are you good for?

The delivery I suppose, but if thats the case we can all be rappers. All we gotta do is have a ghost writer and a production team

HERE COMES THE HATE ON GILLIE.

Gillie DID in fact write for Wayne on the Carter II and everything before that. I hate the fact that these "wayne fans" can't accept that their "favorite rapper" had a ghostwriter.

I'm from PA so I have to support a fellow Philly cat.

Having a ghostwriter puts you at the bottom of the list in my book, you're supposed to write your own sh*t, it's your music, your message, your meanings.....

I HATE rappers that don't write their own ****. I think its pointless. If singers don't write their stuff, its whatever because they SING - their voice is their talent not their lyrics. However, if you're a rapper, what you say is more important then what your voice sounds like. I understand the point you make about the mentors, but having a producer or fellow rapper assist your flow isn't writing your verses...its helping you sound better as an artist, much like voice lessons to a singer.

you aint a real rap artist wit a ghostwriter in my opinion, i know alot of people do and i quess snoop may have, but i know he did write his own **** for a min

I Respect Rappers More When They Write They're Own Lyrics Even If They're Not As Good As The Ones That Have Ghost Writers =]

Gillie DA Kid blows, he sucks.

I don't discredit them. I'm more disappointed in them.
But it does happen just as you say with a lot of rappers.

I think the label execs put that pressure on to "explore more creative ideas"

BS

uhhhh dude ur missing the point
snoop did this on purpose because it was an experimental move for him, he wanted to let others write for him but the whole album has no guest appearances so he does all the rapping and singing. he was trying it out because he usually doesnt have a ghostwriter

as for dr.dre, he's had ghostwriters way before eminem. back in NWA up to the present the DOC writes for him, snoop probably did some too... actually everyone who was on a track that he rapped on probably contributed to his rap, like pac on california love or ice cube on natural born killa

having a ghostwriter doesnt really discredit an artist because a rap artist is supposed to rap.... not necesarily write.
however, it is kinda gay if you brag about your lyricism in your rhymes when you dont write them

snoop said he was the biggest rapper in the world, and basically thats the point, he's lettin others write his rhymes just for kicks, when before he used to ego trip and prefer to do it himself. now he's egotrippin on this album in a diff way, by wanting to do all the vocals and having no guest appearances for the whole album

Manilla: You didn't buy Ego Trippin did you? There were quite a few guest appearances

idk
