nope
i would say yes & no at the sametime.
no I think of the south.
no i try to envision alabama and what it must have meant to lynyrd skynyrd.
I'm sorry, but I hate this song and wish it were never created. So, so, SO overplayed (well, I live next door to Alabama and hear it entirely too much).
I realized I did not answer your question fully: everywhere else I have been in the states, I have not heard mention and/or the playing of this song, so I figure it's more prominent in the south.. and if I did not live here, I would probably do my damnedest to not associate it with my home state.
Well, my home state is Hawaii. It's hard to use Lynyrd Skynyrd to remind me of my home.
Sweet Home California just doesnt sound good
Considering Kentucky Fried Chicken saw fit to use it for their commercials, I would have to say yes. It seems like it's become something of a Southern anthem, not just limited to Alabama. Maybe not so much for New York or Illinois however. We won the Civil War, so I'll allow them to keep Lynyrd Skynyrd all to themselves.
Nope
NO ,I burnt out on that one proably before you had the training wheels off your bike. Not to knock your taste but,,I think LS Sucks. To over-rated over-played==burn out
Sorry ~ Colorado Rocky Mountain High is the one that speaks to me of my home state. Sweet Home Alabama just makes me think of the American southeast.
Sometimes. This was my nephews first 'favorite' song. He was like 3 (in 2004 and just learning to talk), and lives in New England~ but he would sing out..."nanana ALABAMA! nanana ALABAMA!" ..his version of the lyrics. It was too cute!LOL
no...I was born and raised in Alabama, unfortunately (Birmingham) and its just about the only claim to fame Alabama has except for inbreeding and slavery
You can substitute any State you wish but, it probably would not sound the same. "Sweet Home Maine" just doesn't seem to fit right.
By the way, I have been to Alabama many times and do not see the infatuation.
Nahh!!!! the song was especailly written for Alabama. Wouldn't sound right if you put utah in there. Besides don't think Skynyrd would want to go home to Utah.Lol!!!
