Is Ronnie Spector as great as some say?!

Question: "The last of the rock stars" is her latest album, not bad for a singer in her 60s, actually better that some others, she does real rock, to whom could she be compared to?

Answers: "The last of the rock stars" is her latest album, not bad for a singer in her 60s, actually better that some others, she does real rock, to whom could she be compared to?

She's consistently had a unique pop voice, a very vulnerable sound. Her guest vocals on Eddie Money's "Take Me Home Tonight" and appearance in his video were great. She's still sexy. Many have tried to imitate her. Mary Weiss of the Shangri Las, another unique voice from the 1960s, also has a fairly new solo CD that holds up well.

I can't think of her singing without smiling.

Why should she be compared to anyone? She's Ronnie Spector, was married to Phil and was the lead singer of the Ronnettes. Surely, she can stand up in her own right?

YES!! The Ronnettes and her could "pull it off" and sing and dance, like Tina Turner.

Her husband Phil, while technically inventive, was a JERK.

EDIT - I don't know about her recent stuff. I was referring to the 1960's, sorry.

No, unless you like a cartoonish screaming banshee. She's only famous because of her relationship to Phil. She needs to get a job at a karaoke bar or something where her skills will be put to good use instead of forced upon us because of some record label doing Phil a favor.
