Theres too few of TRUE metal lovers left... are you one of them?!

Question: i am.
im talking real metal, dont list off dragonforce or disturbed or korn or something like that. im talking iron maiden, blind guardian, pantera, megadeth, iced earth, anything older pretty much because almost nothing new is REAL metal.

are you one of the survivors of the metal genocide?

Yup, i listen to the old stuff. I consider myself "true" and been so for almost 15 years now, from the times when metal was virtually non-existent.

Although, I think you're doing a bit of injustice to dragonforce. Even though they get all the MTV exposure and hordes of emo n00bs and wannabe followers, you CAN NOT throw them in the same group as sh*t like korn and disturbed. Dragonforce play a technically very demanding melodic power metal bordering on speed metal. I have NO idea why the hell they are so popular with the teenage n00b crowd.

Yet another thing I don't agree with you: if it's made in the recent years, it's not neccesserily crap. Bands like Dream Evil and Sabaton play a very solid heavy metal, almost 80's style, only better production.
If it's new, it's not neccessarily crap. if it's NU, it is crap ;)

Just for a taste of my fave bands:
Hammerfall, Dream Evil, Nocturnal Rites, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Edguy, Gamma Ray, Falconer, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Turisas, In Extremo, Megadeth, Iced Earth, Children of Bodom, Freedom Call, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica...

EDIT:
Wow, you know stuff like Persuader, D&W, Savage Circus...?!? You must be european, LOL! :)

Hells Yeah. You are right, there is not much new metal out there.

considering I listened to maiden, priest, saxon, manowar etc in the 80s when I was in high school, and still listen to it, my answer is yes, and there are many more like me on this site, because i ask questions about these bands and many people answer them.

the guy above me is another one like me...antisocialista
countess..flotsam and jetsam is some kickass metal

Yes I am what is called a true metal lover. Many people are confused really about what metal music is and sounds like.

Kreator, Destruction, Witchkiller, old Flotsman and jetsman (sp?), helloween, venom, celtic frost, bathory. are bands I love and enjoy that is metal

YESSSSSSSSSSS!

yes and no

i will always love maiden they are the one that got me into metal back in 87 BUT while i do agree that some of the worst metal ever written is being written today, i also have to say some of the best is as well, if your a true metal fan and you cant see the brilliance of in flames or children of bodem your real problem is being stuck in the past, and your just hating it cause its new, in which case i hope you don't over play your Cd's because 20 years from now your play list is going to be 40 years old

There are lots of us out there, we're just being taken over by new wave *******. We can always listen to our old music which will never change!

I'm there with you on the Metal front. Maiden, Megadeth and Pantera. More metal than the periodic table.

I nearly cried when I saw Nickelback in the Metal section in HMV.

Literally, tears in my eyes.

Metal Church
old Metallica (been listening to them since Ride the Lightning was the newest album)
Slayer
Sepultura
Flotsam /Jetsam
Obituary
Testament
Napalm Death
Carcass
Motorhead
Priest
Sabbath

Yah I'm one of them.

Yes. And I'd debate genocide. I know many teens who are still into metal rock. We have all the above and more, in our collection and our kids listen to all of it.

Yes. I love all sorts of metal especially goth, the old metal stuff, black, death and symphonic like Opeth, Iron Maiden and Within Temptation etc.

KoRn isn't even metal it's hard rock/nu metal, same with Disturbed. I hate them both,

The new stuff is poser metal, not real metal

But I don't go around telling everyone they are not true metallers... this 'poser' thing is kinda stupid, and it is usually posers who go around telling other people that they are other than geniune.

f.ck yeah!
nu-metal (ugh) and that horrible emo screamo crap have changed the views of society so much that when i tell someone i like metal, they say "oh, like limp bizkit and MCR and stuff, right?"
ARGH!!!! it really p.sses me off that the true ways of metal have almost been lost
and mostly black metal
it is one of the genres of metal that are most persecuted by society

No, I'm not.

I think it's a little unfair to say that metal today isn't real metal. All styles of music eventually change. If they hadn't, metal wouldn't even exist.

I'm left! Up the F'n Irons.

yes, metallica(listening to master of puppets right now!), iron maiden, motorhead and black sabbath!

hells yeah! Bathory, Iron Maiden, Celtic Frost, Angel Witch, Pantera, I'm there. I don't listen to a lot of the new stuff. I don't care for rap in my metal.

As you can tell by name YES I love Metal. I've been into Metal since I heard 2 Minutes to Midnight when I was 12 and have been listening to it ever since.

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Metallica (Pre-Load)
Megadeth
Dio
Black Sabbath

Yes, I am a true metalhead. I must disagree though with you saying that modern day metal is crap. I mean, have you listened to Firewind, Falconer, Warbringer, Silent Force, or Anterior? Those bands really kick @$$. Besides Europe is a lot more passionate about metal than the U.S. is.

EDIT: I agree with eyesinthedrk. Real metalheads would find bands to enjoy today and now just like they did 20 years ago. I might only be 17 years old, but I know some great metal bands that are around today.

EDIT: Oh ok. Sorry, I just get annoyed when people say Rock is dead. I don't think it is dead. If it was dead then there would be absolutely no good bands that would be playing today. But yes, I agree that Korn, Disturbed, and Dragonforce are not real metal.

Yep, an old metal head from way back....I listen to a lot of audio books on CD in my car these days but right now, in my car for when I'm between "books" there is Iron Maiden, Piece of Mind and Seventh Son, Judas Priest, Staind Class and Accept, Balls to the Wall!!!

yea i am

yes, Metal shall reclaim the throne in time. Overkill has a new album coming out soon. Disturbed isn't really Metal, more Hard Rock, but I still like it. Mot?rhead has been a big influence on Metal, and they're currently working on a new album. Ozzy has Black Rain out now. Is Metal really dead? HELL NO!

Right here, bro! Here's two amazing bands that are definitely real metal- Corrosion of Conformity and Sahg. Check them out!

yea i am i only listen to iron maiden judas priest megadeth slayer and that kinda stuff but i do listen to hardrock like led zepp AC/DC pink floyd
