Well actually alot of bands use electric viola ot even people. I mean even a reguler acoustic guitar that has a 1/4 cable plug in can be called electric acoustic guitar. bands that do this will have it where they can plug them in so they can give them effects.
I think John Cale played it on 'We Will Fall' by the Stooges too...
some bands did but some did not because it looked foolish
