Music readers, help!?!

Question: I want to learn how to read every single note on what I believe is called a musical scale. I am interested in playing the piano. I know that grand pianos have 88 keys on them and I want to find a diagram that looks something like this one, http://jackhdavid.thehouseofdavid.com/pa... but for an 88 key piano! I have looked everywhere and I would really like to have one to study! Please, if you know of anywhere on the internet to find one, just let me know and I will go there myself and find it! Thank you so much for your help!

The part of that diagram that is marked ABCDE etc - IS a representation of a piano keyboard. Almost all standard modern pianos (not just grands) have 88 keys - you have to count the black keys and the white keys both. What this diagram does not show is the names of the black keys (the sharps and flats). Almost every modern piano has 36 black keys and 52 white keys for a total of 88 keys (seven octaves plus a minor third, from A0 to C8).

This site explains it very simply: http://www.get-piano-lessons.com/layout-...

When you learn to play piano learning the notes on the keyboard and learning the notes on the paper sort of come together. The diagram you linked is a pretty good representation of the Staff (the lines with the notes on them) and where those notes fall on the keyboard.

Good luck learning to play the piano!

You can order a portable keyboard that rolls up, making it possible to take it with you anywhere, and actually plays. It's great for beginners.

I've seen them in catalogs from Montgomery Wards, Finger-hut, and other similar stores. They cost around $200.

By the way, I don't think a grand piano has extra keys. It's "grand" because of its size and sound.
