I like country. It's 100% USDA choice American music. (Wait a minute -- Shania Twain is from Canada, isn't she? That's OK -- we'll forgive her, and she's not "real" country anyway...)
I think a lot of people who "hate" country music are spewing uninformed opinions. They associate country music with rednecks, and they like to look down their noses at those who are supposedly "less sophisticated" and like NASCAR, hunting, fishing, driving pick-up trucks, etc.
I say let them wallow in their ignorance. Not only are they missing out on country music, they're also missing out on getting to know people who are much more real and are much more about family and friendship than their high-society associates. You get in a jam and the elite types will bail on you like rats leaving a sinking ship, but the blue-collar types will be there for you.
I don't necessarily hate it- I just don't care for it, thus I don't listen to it.

I used to hate it when I was in 5th grade or so. I think it was because of their voices, and that I thought they sound nasally and pretty much all the same.
There's also that redneck deal where I lived where everyone kinda made redneck jokes and you know, I was around 9 so of course, I followed the idea about how drunk they get and whatever...
But now that I look back at it, I feel amazingly bad for disrespecting country music like that. There are pretty good country artists out there that I admire, and I'm sure my past reasons of not liking isn't the main reason.
