I'm finally needed for something...
Wow.

Tearwave
Chapterhouse
Amusement Parks on Fire
Falling Out of Cars
Thrushes
Lush
The Daysleepers
My Bloody Valentine
Slowdive
Mazzy Star [slightly more on the Dream pop side, but still amazing. One of my favourite bands].

Some of the following go deep into the darkwave genre as well as Ethereal.

Sunshine Blind
Dreamside
Soul Whirling Somewhere
ThouShaltNot
Delerium
Black Tape for a Blue Girl
Deine Lakaien

SHOEGAZING!! =) Mmm, I could use some new ones too, where is that Cinnamon? I can reccomend all the ones you've already heard, lol. Slowdive, Lush and Kitchens of Distinction are good to me.

EDIT: Cinnamon we were in dire need of you! =)

I wasn't even aware of the term "shoegazer" until I got on Yahoo Answers. I'm not sure what other bands are considered to be in that genre besides Catherine Wheel. I love their stuff though, particularly the first 3 albums ("Ferment", "Chrome" and "Happy Days").

Shoegazer?

Is that anything like a pillow biter?

I don't really know many shoegaze bands.

There's a band from my town called Thrushes that's shoegaze influenced kind of.

You might also like bands like Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You. They're post-rock ambient stuff

Love Spirals Downwards
Lycia
Black Tape for a Blue Girl
Cocteau Twins
Faith and the Muse (which if I remember correctly, you're already a fan)
My Bloody Valentine
Lush

Check these bands out too... they're great.
Switchblade Symphony
London After Midnight

The Hope Blister
Area
This Mortal Coil

Love shoegazer and etheral! Glad to hear people are still interested in it, since it has somewhat faded from popularity.

Be sure to check out The Cranes, Mojave 3 (the evolution of Slowdive), His Name is Alive, My Bloody Valentine, Swandive and Mazzy Star.

That should keep you busy for a while! Enjoy!

FYI, the name "shoegazer" came from the fact that the singers for most of these bands would stand quite motionless at the microphone, while looking down when singing, giving the impression that they were gazing at their shoes.

Also, be sure to give a listen to www.gothradio.com - think you might like it.

Some post-rock derived from shoegazer. I love post-rock. Bands like Flying Saucer Attack and Bardo Pond have compared to early shoegaze....

The term Shoegazer came to be popular due to the fact that the performers were fond of staring at their shoes while performing. Unlike emo, the music itself had a droney, almost sort of down vibe to it.

Lush
My Bloody Valentine
Chapterhouse
Slowdive
Ride
Bowery Electric

These bands are closer to ethereal Goth although sound-wise, they're close.
Black Tape for a Blue Girl
Arcana
Faith & Disease

Yes, the first thing that came to mind for me is Bloody Valentine

:)

LUSH

Copied these artists straight outta Wikipedia...they were my fave back in the day...
The Jesus and Mary Chain, the Cocteau Twins,The Cure, Bauhaus...
