Does anyone remember the year 1988 for Hip Hop?!

Question: If you do, do you think it was really a golden year in hip hop? I was 14 at the time and I just remember so many people coming onto the scene.

BIG BIG BIG year....RUN DMC,NWA,PUBLIC ENEMY,Ultramagnetic emcees,Big Daddy kane...slick rick...so many more!!!! Damn....hasnt hip hop changed? Makes me wanna go back....So yeah it was a huge year in my opinion

"im on my '88 flow", yea it was a good year. the parties, the music, the fashion. yea it was dope but i dont think it was the golden age. golden age=early nineties

The year I graduated, it seems to have a lot of memories for me. But as far as hip hop? It was more a BASS time than rhyme time. But that's just from my point of view.

Yeah I was -4 at the time.

No it depends how old you are everyone likes music from like 14-21 better. Personally I like the highpoint of rap was from 96-99 but like half the stuff I was hearing on mixtapes back them never got released like The Desperados remix with the Firm and Canibus where Nas actually had a verse on it. He said something like pop slugs out bathroom doors, hos strung on cancer sticks.

Music should be measured in respect to how other art forms are. While it is subjective, the bottom line that era is probably the highest it had ever been.

i wasnt born til 1992 so i have no idea lol. but that was 4 years before the chronic was released i know that haha

Yes I do! I think it's the year the a Rap group won a Grammy, which was Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, so I guess at the time I thought it was golden!
