It's not that big of a deal.There are chord shapes that you can move up and down the neck of the guitar.All major and minor chords are like that.Transcribing is when you change the key of a song from A to G.Once you get the chord shape,you'll fall right into it.Keep practicing,you'll hear results.
Firemyar gave you some wrong info. Transcribing music is writing the music on staff paper. Changing the key of a song from key to key is called transposing. Learning to play by ear works when you have the ability to hear music and then mimic it correctly when you attempt to play it. Some people have a gift for that and some don't. There are certain chord patterns that repeat from key to key. Once you learn the different chord types (major, minor, diminished, augmented, etc.) you use those chord types in various positions up and down the neck of your guitar to play in different keys. As you hear and play, you learn more and more as you go.
