When will I be able to sing again!?!

Question: I recently got a throat infection.. on Saturday... It's now Saturday again, so it's been a full week. My throat had gotten to the point of hurting so bad, I literally wanted to die. My voice, as you can imagine, was destroyed and I'm pretty sure I've done some damage to it with the amount of effort it took to talk.

I used to sing alto, but for some reason now I can't sing any alto notes, and my voice just goes out or cracks. I can hit all the soprano notes PERFECTLY now. My voice is still a little screwed up.
How long till this gets better?
Will it get any better?
Have I just gone and given myself permanent vocal damage!?

It's only been a week. You HAVE to give your voice time to heal; a week is not long enough to recover from a throat infection/illness. Honestly, you probably shouldn't be singing too much at all right now, or even talking. You need to go on vocal rest for at least 24 hours and try to take even more time off of singing.

You most likely did not do permanent damage to your voice, but if you keep trying to use your voice so much before it's fully healed, you could damage it. So, just take it easy and take care of your body so you won't get sick again.

You need to be quiet. Try a full day of total vocal rest. That means no talking at all. Drink lots of warm stuff like herbal teas.

See how your voice reacts. If it's not better make an appointment with an ENT (ear nose throat) immediately.

Just rest up, drink lots of water, take medicine, and use paper and a pencil to talk lol! The same thing happened to my mom and all those things cured it!

Put yourself on vocal rest for a week! No talking, no singing.... zip!!!! Even whispering can hurt it. Carry around a dry erase board to talk to people like teachers if you must. Drink lots of warm fluids, and gargle with salt water. If you are over 21... i used to take shots of whiskey mixed with orange juice and honey. It was completely gross tasting but it would clear anything i had!!! Take vitamin C pills.

I can't give you a certain time frame on when it will get better but it sounds like your voice is pretty shot. It may take a week, it may take a month. Just try not to talk as much as possible!! Talking will only set you back for longer recovery.
