Always follow the path of your own heart and tastes. I have never liked rap, nor did I care for a lot of the "popular" music when I was in school (more than 20 years ago!). I was fortunate that the music I enjoyed eventually became more mainstream...but my friends and I always listened to the music that we enjoyed...regardless of what everyone else decided was the "in" thing.
I didn't start listening to country until after school, but I found a great many wonderful songs in that style of music. As you grow you will find that your tastes will expand. Rap & hip-hop are about the only styles of music I DON'T listen to. Follow your heart and you will find the things that you enjoy most!

Personally, I hate rap, too. There's no way I'd ever give in to it though. I say, if you like country, that's what you should listen to. Just because you're different, it doesn't mean you should try to be something you're not. Lots of people like country (thoguh I'm not one of them) and I'm sure there's someone else out there that does. And if not, that's what the internet's for.
Go with the music you like. It's your life don't let your peers control it. When you grow up that stuff won't matter anyways, nobody is going to care about what music you listen to. If you enjoy it then listen to it. I'm so sick of people listening to certain music just becuase they wanna blend in. That ruins the whole idea of music. Just listen to what you love, don't care what everybody else thinks, that's their problem.

dont worry , i dont know anybody who likes rap ,exept my son that is . i hate it to , no meaning no carisma no voice , and no charm to it , rap sucks
Don't learn to like it. I was a break dancer in the 80's, but old rock n roll is the thing I have never stopped listening to. Rap has had its day and is quite boring now if you ask me. People are sheep, don't follow them.
Are you wearing a shirt that says this or holding up a sign? If not, just keep your mouth shut and don't say anything that way no one will hate you. Then just listen to whatever you want on your own?
