They are not bad beginner guitars. I had one as my first and it gave me no problems at all. It wouldnt really be worth putting money into a squier. Better to save up and get a better guitar. Good luck!
a squire is basically a fender with cheaper parts... start by having some new pickups put on... that will help a lot.
