--in the last verse--the singer is saying that this will be over soon.And god is protecting her and hears her pain.

The way I take it is it's about a girl who was abused when she was little. She grew up, and of course had all of these emotions from it. Now she cuts herself to cope with her painful past!
i think she is talking about how as a kid she was beaten and now that she is older she can't forget it
or
something hurt her really bad. like her boyfriend breaking up with her and she is hurting herself to get over the pain
This song is about a girl who is afraid of being home because of the hurt (both physically from her family and emotionally), her emotional breakdowns, her attempt to hide from it all and her failed attempt to pray for God to save her. She wants to be happy but she cannot hide her emotional trama even on her most happy day.(she goes to hide her outward scars to symobolize the inward) The she goes to talk about making herself bleed aka cutting and inflicting pain unpon herself to avoid the other pain she may feel. But there is hope at the end of the song, God's prayer
I think her family abused her, and when she gets older she cuts her self. And then it has something to do with seeking God? And probably her family is throwing her a party but there all acting like everythings okay... Idk.

When I first read the first few lines of this poem I was positive that the "He" that they were referring to was God because of the capitlization. I think that the Father is abuising the daughter, and the Mother is in denial about the whole thing, trying to keep the peace, and not confronting the Father about the abuise because she is afraid that he will take his anger out on her if she is unfaithful. I think that the girl is probably crying out to the Mother who will not defend the daughter because she is afraid of the husband because in the third paragraph at the girls sixteenth birthday everyone acts like everythings alright. Ofcourse the Father will because he is convinced that he is doing nothing wrong, and the Mother won't say a word about it either. She usually hides her scars and bruises possibly from her friends.
I think that the line "making me bleed will be the answer that could wash the slate clean" means that if the girl just keeps taking the abuise, and excepts her Father as an authority figure things will be fine, as long as she doesn't tell anybody, and just excepts the pain and the bleeding. And in the last paragraph "dark before dawn, and storm before the peace" means that things have to get bad, and you always experience some difficulty before things can ever get better, you must overcome obstacles before you can see the light and the end of the tunnel. and "cause seasons change, God is watching over you, he hears you" means that even though this girl cries, her parents don't care, she still continues to pray to God, and he will always listen to you, he is always there for you, he will always hear you, and be by your side.
All in all it captures an abusive situation between a daughter, and possibly a father in my opinion.
