Why country and rap at the same time?!

Question: Why is it that so many people dig new country and rap/ r & b at the same time? Like, their favorite music is listed as Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Rhianna, and Sean Kingston. What is the relation here? To me, they are all lumped into the "suck" category, but for fans of these types of music, I think it's weird that they like such seemingly opposite things.

The question isn't really about the ability to like more than one type of music. It was about the specific tendency that people have to like new, radio-friendly country music and trendy rap/r & b at the same time, and exclusively as their only types of music. With maybe a little Nickelback thrown in for good measure...

I think it's mostly what kids are raised around, and then what they see on tv or hear on the radio. They're bound to like something from each category they are exposed to. It's like anything else. Just a matter of what you get used to. I think another big part of it is their friends. They want to fit in, so they listen to what the people they are around are listening to.

Its a new generation of people , with each there are changes in attitudes , Country Music has been drifting this way for decades . Thats one reason I shy away from all new so-called contry music , either listen to old C&W or Bluegrass thats is not poluted with all this garbage

Both country and rap often tell stories thru their lyrics. Maybe the "radio friendly country" & the "radio friendly rap" people are growing because these songs are played over & over & over until you have no choice but to like them or turn off the radio.

Because it's music and music can be blended to suit the audience at any given time and discretion.

Well Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts aren't country. So I guess that's the problem.
