Will guitar center refund my guitar reserve?!

Question: I went to guitar center looking for a new guitar, found one for $550. I thought I would have a way to get the rest of the money, so I reserved it. I have $300 left on it, but no way to get the money. Will they refund me my money?

Used to work at the local guitar center. By reserve, I'm guessing you are talking about a lay-away? You can always get your money back. The only time you will have an issue with getting a refund is when you've special ordered a specific item that they will not keep in stock or if it's 30 days after an item has been purchased. There are also certain rules that apply to buying vintage guitars, but that's not what you're talking about. Don't worry, you won't have a problem getting your money back. Best of luck to you.

I dont think they have to, thats the point of the reserve. You puy money down as a promise to buy something and if you dont they gain from your reserve whilst they werent selling the item to someone else. But.... if they are a respectable dealer then they should give at least most of it back as a goodwill gesture.

Guitar Center does not even mention a reserve policy in their terms and conditions. I would just call the store and ask what to do in the event you cannot pay the remainder. If all else fails, borrow the money, buy the guitar and return it within their 30-day refund period. Then you can repay the loan and yourself.

I DO agree with the first answerer though... it is a matter of their own reputation at stake.
