What kind of guitar does Bruce Springsteen use?!

Question: it's actually a fender esquire...fender reps contend it's a 1952 model; and the fact there's an asterisk after the serial number indicates that it was a 'flawed' guitar...

It doesn't matter, because it is unplugged.

a gay one

His electric is a Fender Telecaster...virtually every picture of him has him holding his natural finished one of these.

He doesn't "use" it, it's just a prop.

"The Guitar," the one on the cover of the album, "Born to Run," and that now has a chip in it, is a combination of an Esquire body and a Telecaster neck. I think it's a 1952 model that he paid about $150 for at a used guitar shop in the early 70s. It was his primary guitar from the mid-seventies through the early 80s. Now he uses it on only a few songs a night.

Get there early for a show with a GA ticket and if you get lucky and are up against the stage, you might get to play it. Before the final "1, 2, 3, 4...", during "Born to Run," the song, when everybody in the band is just blowing it out, he'll step down and lean over and let fans strum it. It's exciting to see. The DVD, "Live in Barcelona," shows it.
