Nu-metal - eahh - 6 out of 10 stars.
Heavy metal - REAL heavy metal is the grandaddy of all of it,
everything else is just somebody's interpretation of what metal was meant to be, sometimes it's a good intepretation, sometimes it sucks.

HEAVY METAL!!! here's why:
grunge is dead, only lasted about 5 or 6 years........bla bla bla alice in chains and soundgarden were playing basically metal in the 80's, and suddenly became "grunge" when stupid media put them in the grunge pigeon hole just because they were seattle bands.
nu metal sucks, and is too simplistic. no complicated riffs, no solos, lyrics a retarded monkey could write. nu metal guitarists are generally very amateur and untalented. you will never hear the name of a nu metal guitarist in the same sentence as dave mustaine (megadeth), john petrucci (dream theater), or dimebad darrell (pantera)
heavy metal incorporates complicated guitar, intense drumming and often irregular timing.
Heavy Metal.. i just love it.. pretty much everything about it.. not a lot i can say about that never have really cared for grunge , not lovin' nu-metal either... so i cant say anything else ...LONG LIVE HEAVY METAL and BLACK SABBATH!!!!!!!!!!
Nu Metal is an atrocity. There are many amazing metal and grunge bands. At the moment I listen to a lot of Temple Of The Dog, Mother Love Bone and Pearl Jam so I would say grunge, but I am seeing Iron Maiden with Avenged Sevenfold at Twickenham Stadium in July so both are awesome. Having said that, all the crappy screaming in metal is such a shame and so many bands just sound moronically similar, so I think grunge may just win this for me.
I used to like grunge a lot. Not so much anymore.
I just don't care for nu-metal.....
That just leaves Heavy Metal!

Honestly, I've never been a fan of Grunge really.
The only Nu-Metal I ever did like was Kittie in 2000, that's it.
Most of my 20 year music background has been rooted deeply with metal.
Nu-metal and grunge came out of heavy metal
Metal is pure , pristine and legendary
nothing can come close to it .
