Metal is just starting to make a big comeback to radio, but if you listen to most mainstream rock these days, you can still see the influence of loud fuzzed out guitars, the whole loud/quiet/loud dynamic of the songs, and lots of screaming...just like Kurt did, so I'd say most bands these days are influenced by the whole 90's Seattle scene.
