iTunes has to aquire all the legal rights to the songs first, which is very difficult to do. Years ago, Michael Jackson outbid Paul McCartney and bought control of all The Beatles' songs. But with all of Michael's plastic surgery and legal problems, he ended up selling the rights to various others over the years. So now many different people own the rights to different Beatles songs. This is why their music is constantly used in commercials, and probably why their albums haven't been re-mastered on CD. It's going to be very difficult for iTunes to get the rights to the whole Beatles catalogue. Way to go Michael Jackson.

i think that they are planning to. but they need to rights.

due to legalities...

however...a huge deal was reportedly struck a few weeks ago and the catalog should be available on itunes later this year...

they need to first have to approve it with the beatles i think.

Micheal Jackson owns the rights to just about all The Beatles songs. He probably isn't giving itunes permission to use them.

The Beatles may be allowing it in the future, but right now I think that iTunes doesn't have the rights to putting them on their site due to legalities. It's all about asking for their permission to do certain things, especially when it involves selling music for money.

For one thing, the Beatles have a corporation, Apple Corps Ltd, and have battled with Apple Inc over use of the name for a while. Apple Corps had a recording studio, a record label, etc, and is not a small little entity. So logically, they wouldn't be very happy with giving Apple their music.

But also, there is a lot of confusion over the Beatles catalogue. Apple Corps is run by surviving Beatles, but Michael Jackson and Sony have rights to the music as well.

APPLE RECORDS - APPLE COMPUTER

They've had many lawsuits over Apple Computer's name

They have also worked out a deal where the Beatles will soon be available on iTunes.

Kenman is right.....and after trying for 7 years, 'American Idol' was finally able to dip into The Beatles Songbook for contestants to perform. Michael Jackson owns the rights to The Beatles songs after a bitter 'bidding war' with Paul McCartney many years ago, so there's where your legalities are. Paul's worst mistake was letting those songs go, in my opinion.

not sure...visit www.thepiratebay.org

cause theyre evil!
Death to itunes!

Probably cause they're so old...

Its hard to get the rights to them. I found the same thing with Led Zeppelin, until the compilation Mothership was made I couldnt find any, only cover bands.
