Creating music is frustrating?!

Question: sigh...don't you hate how you can create/start a composition one day, and then a few days later you think to yourself "haha this sucks" and then maybe one-two weeks later you think "wow, this is really trash, I can't believe I thought it was good".

This is really irritating and diminishes my self esteem. Do other people think like this?? and how do I get rid of this mentality?

IYour self esteem shouldn't be based ONLY on your music achievements...There are many more good points that you have that should make you proud of yourself, true?

Every composer - such as every painter, every sculptor, etc.- has good and bad seasons..So do you..At times you think your production is poor..So, what? You have an ability to produce, but it doesn't mean "perfect" all the time!!

So, relax and take it easy..Don't expect 100% to be ok..We all have our ups and downs...

And by the way..do not consider "trash" any of your works...just view them as "incomplete" or something like that...since your spirit is always present in each one of them...Good day and good luck !!

eat some shrooms and listen to aphex twin

really its not hard if you just try and reach for the sky!

Yes, me too. I've decided I'm no good at music. Some people have the talent but not me. My Youtube videos have gotton thrashed by comments. I'm like william hung with a guitar but not famous.

Of course we all have some talent at something. But some of us were more endowed with musical skill.

oh yeah, its 100% normal for a song writer to feel that way. if thats the case eather edit it or throw it away really. being a song writer myself i sometimes feel my songs suck on ice. but truthfully its not what you think, its what others think. if people think its trash, throw it out, start again. learn from your mistakes. its the same way with any kind of writing. heck i might go back and read this comment saying "did i really write this? this is horable motavation"

My plain and humble opinion about it. I love electronic music and I'm trying to learn how to play it, I also know some dj's and they've told me about their experiences as producers. My conclusion is, first, that you shouldn't produce music in order to please people. One of the first things that come to a beginner's mind is: "I have to create a hit that everybody loves right away", and maybe this could give you money, but where's your essence? Artist shouldn't "sell" their spirits...
Second, you have to realize that there's a lot of music out there, every single artist composes lots of songs... you just have to feel happy about what you do (that's the secret of success), not even expecting attention. That's the only way you can fully enjoy what you produce without feeling fustration.
I repeat, just a humble and plain opinion.
