Well a guitar has only got six strings so I think it's unlikely we will se much innovation by guitar bands. It had all been done by 1972.
Mind you, rock music never loses the power to surprise. Let's just live in hope eh.
i think an alien band will change the face of music.
they will come in peace & blow our minds with there unique & wierd music.
Emo rules right now, but in my opinion, I think that heavy metal will make a comeback.
Right this down. In 2013, a band called Humberto y los Perros from a freed Cuba is gonna start the Latino invasion and rock-oriented flamenco and salsa dances are gonna be all the rage. Sh*t's gonna be insane.
Rock, as well as other genres of popular music, will undoutedly move to more computer/techno based sounding.
Bands like Radiohead, and Beck are doing this sorta thing now, I think you will hear it more and more as the computer becomes a bigger part of us.
But also, with change towards new styles comes those who resist change (they are called Reactionaries). I think it's possible that their will be a regression back to what rock was about in the 60s and 70s... maybe even to Folky Dylan sounding stuff of the late 50s and 60s.... unplugged guitars, simple drums and a bass guitar.. no fancy sound machines and effects... I think you will see that too in the future
