Question: I loved the music and I told her so but I said that the lead singer was out of tune and that they should try and dress up a bit more before going on stage
I gushed enthusiasm about their music - but sent an email saying they should try and improve their visual image and have a word with the lead singer about singing in tune
I reiterated in the email that I loved the music (all original compositions)
She hasn't written back

I am a musician myself, and if I heard what you said, I would not feel hurt. Hopefully you have not lost a friend, but if they cannot take objective criticism from a friend, there is no way they will survive in the brutal music biz. She should thank you for being candid –?there is nothing worse than being shot down by big execs or record labels for similar things.
If you are a trained singer she should welcome constructive criticism of that sort.
Did she ask you for a critique? If not, then, yes you made a mistake.

she cant handle criticism and she or he needs to learn that everywhere they go their will b criticism
Try to explain to them that you meant well. I'd rather hear it from a friend who's honest than someone else. I'd talk to you her about it. Also, since you have experience in the arts, that'll help with performance too. Criticism will help improve their performance.
