What band do you think had the most impact on heavy metal music?!

Question: Led Zeppelin? Black Sabbath? Slayer? Or Metallica?

Answers: Led Zeppelin? Black Sabbath? Slayer? Or Metallica?

Led Zeppelin defenitely was not the biggest in metal. I mean, if you look back at there albums, you find bluegrass songs. Not metal.

Black Sabbath had the biggest lyrical influence with their dar lyrics.

Slayer helped with alot of today's speed metal with their insane guitar, bass, and drums work.

Metallica had a very big influence on many different artists with both their lyrical style and their musicianship.

But Sabbath most definitely had the biggest influence on metal.

Led Zeppelin totally then Sabbath and then Metallica

For me

Deep Purple
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden
Metallica

I personally think Judas Priest. Rob Halford has influenced of modern day metal vocalists who scream, screech, squeal blah blah..

From your list - Black Sabbath!

Out of those probably Sabbath.

they all had there own impacts and it depends on like how heavy your talking about

Sabbath

metallica...

Black Sabbath

They made Metal
They patented Metal
They own Metal

End of discussion

...what Darth Maul said. End of discussion.

tough one first off you can throw out slayer and metallica they are both the product of Sabbath and zeppelin, id say today's metal head are more of a direct decedents of sabbath but we would never have a place if it wasn't for the people influenced by zeppelin, unfortunately its gotta be led zeppelin

You have to go back a little further than Metallica and Slayer.

Black Sabbath
Cream
Blue Cheer
Led Zeppelin
The Who
Jimi Hendrix Experience

Since you are asking for one definitive answer:

EASILY Black Sabbath out of all of those. They took what was already being done and made it 200% heavier and darker. While there were heavy songs coming out around the same time (and sometimes prior to) Black Sabbath's albums (namely the self titled album), the most influential band for Heavy Metal is Black Sabbath.

Probably Black Sabbath. I personally can't stand them, but they are one of the musical inspirations for a lot of the metal bands I listen to now.

Here is in my opinion, the bands that made the most impact on each decade ever since metal began...

1970's- Black Sabbath
1980's- Slayer
1990's- Lamb of God
2000's- Falconer

Black Sabbath started it all!! I don't rate Led Zeppelin as a "metal" band.

The Father and creator of heavy metal is SABBATH, BLOODY BLACK SABBATH !!!!!!!!
Speed Metal ; iron maiden ( British invasion )
Thrash Metal; the big 5; Metallica, Megadeth , Slayer , Anthrax and Testament.
Black Metal ; Cronos,Mantas and Abaddon of Venom
Death metal ; Hellhammer, Death, Slayer and Morbid Angels
Doom Metal ; Black Sabbath ( Into the Void )
Shock ; Alice Cooper
I'm not sure about gothic.

We'll have a pop metal quiz tomorrow children. Lol!!!!!!

PS; Led Zep is not a heavy metal band

Black Sabbath then Metallica!

Easily Slayer. Slayer has, almost single-handedly, fathered the death metal generation, with both lyrics and music. You can't say that about any other band's influence on any genre of metal.

guns n roses, nirvana
